Alex Peterson, MSN, PMHNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Alex Peterson is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Alex has devoted his career to the care and treatment of individuals dealing with mental health issues. Balance Behavioral Health is the result of his vision to create a safe-space to help adults and adolescents with their goals of mental wellness.  

Alex completed his Masters Degree at Georgia State University.  He treats adults and adolescents with mood and thought disorders, personality disorders, oppositional behavior disorders, substance abuse, sexuality and gender issues. He employs a combined process of medication management and talk therapy to develop a bond of comfort and trust with his clients.  

 

Alex’s therapeutic perspective utilizes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy and motivational interviewing. Alex believes that extensive psycho-education, through relatable and understandable conversation, provides each client the insight and self-awareness to understand the change they seek in their lives.

Julia Martin, CPT, CNWC

Certified Personal Trainer & Nutritionist

Julia is a personal fitness trainer and nutritionist from Montgomery, Alabama. She became a personal trainer and nutritionist to assist others in their personal wellness goals. Julia struggled with her health and weight through her teen and early adult years. Wanting to accomplish her own fitness and health goals, she became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. After dipping her toe in the fitness world, she decided to get involved in nutrition as well, becoming a Certified Nutrition & Wellness Consultant through the American Fitness Professionals Association. 

Julia works daily to help her clients find a healthy lifestyle without giving up all the things they enjoy. She understands that everyone is unique and collaborates with her clients to guide them to their healthiest and happiest selves! No matter whether her clients are new to fitness or dedicated regulars at the gym, Julia creates individual workout plans to help each of them become stronger and healthier in ways they can enjoy. She also believes that people should not have to sacrifice the foods and drinks they enjoy to be healthy. She assists her clients in learning how to make healthy choices while still enjoying the things they love.
