Our story begins with a passion for improving the quality of life for those who have been impacted by mental health issues. We have devoted ourselves to finding a better way to make mental health care accessible, but more importantly, improving the discussion about mental wellness. We believe mental health is foundational to relationships, career goals, academic success and an overall high quality of life. Our experience in treating clients compelled us to evaluate how patients are treated and how our society values mental wellness as a condition of health. When we considered the obstacles to seeking mental health care, we looked at the importance of a compassionate and empathetic client-provider relationship, convenience, the efficacy of mental health treatments and the stigma most clients overcome in order to seek care. It became obvious to us that change was needed. 

The biggest change came in how we spend time with our clients. The first difference you will notice is the lack of a crowded waiting room. We schedule our appointments with ample time between clients to respect your privacy and to allow you time for a comfortable discussion with your provider. Our visits are not rushed and we encourage each client to openly discuss their thoughts in order to collaborate with their provider on a treatment plan. 

We understand that medicine alone does not achieve wellness. Through a combination of psychotherapy, medical evaluation, exercise and nutritional counseling we work as a team to improve a client's quality of life.  We also encourage collaboration with clients' counselors or therapists outside of our practice. 


Scheduling is another important consideration for our clients. Life is stressful enough and making time to meet with a provider should be simple. We understand the frustration many new clients feel while waiting weeks for an initial visit. Balance Behavioral Health is committed to timely access to care and reserves appointments for new patients and unplanned circumstances that require prompt attention. Additionally, our website is optimized for use on mobile devices and provides immediate self-scheduling. This means you can schedule on the go and won't need to speak with someone in the office just to make an appointment, unless you want to do so.

 
Our core principle is to honor the therapeutic relationship between client and provider. Often, the most important step in achieving mental wellness, is the client recognizing their needs and making the decision to meet with a provider. This relationship begins when you walk in our door and are met with empathy and respect. Balance Behavioral Health is committed to our mission and philosophy of care, to see each person as an individual and not as a diagnosis. Attitudes are changing about the importance of mental health.  It’s time for mental health care to change, too.
